Planning the full cost of studying in Malaysia

A tuition figure is only part of your study budget. Make a plan for both the cost of the course and the money you will need while living in Malaysia.

Ask for a clear fee breakdown

Request the current schedule for your programme, nationality and intake. Check tuition by study year, mandatory charges, payment dates and whether any deposit is refundable.

Budget for life beyond the classroom

Plan accommodation, food, transport, utilities, insurance and personal expenses. Add travel and the costs of settling in. Your city and housing choices will affect the total.

Keep estimates and confirmed costs separate

Record the source and validity of each quotation. Check what a discount covers and what happens if your intake changes. Plan with confirmed funding rather than an unapproved scholarship or future earnings.

  • Course fees and required charges
  • Student Pass and related processing costs
  • Deposits and first accommodation payments
  • Monthly living budget and a contingency
